When sorcery doesn't work on someone dumber than a stump, you might feel dismayed: "Am I not as proficient in ye darke arts as I thought?" But don't fret. Magic works best on those who have a bit of magical capacity already making them receptive to your sendings. Luckily, most people have enough magic in them to resonate with what you're putting out. But you might encounter someone with nothing. As a teacher of mine once wrote, "The uncharged cell phone receiveth not the call." The upside is that those people are often easily led through persuasion or what Uncle Anton would call "Lesser Magic." Apply a little Dale Carnegie or William Mortensen and you'll wonder why you ever bought that "Bow Unto Me" spell kit . . .
